Age-Adjusted Hospital Discharge Rates for Diabetes as Any-Listed Diagnosis per 1,000 Diabetic Population, by Sex, United States, 1980–2005

From 1980 through 2005, the age-adjusted rate in hospital discharges for diabetes as any-listed diagnosis declined 28% in men (from 340.5 to 243.7 per 1,000 with diabetes) and 27% in women (from 370.4 to 269.3 per 1,000 with diabetes). In general, from 1980 through 2005, the age-adjusted rates were similar among men and women.
