Age-specific rates of hospital discharge for diabetes as any-listed diagnosis were highest among people with diabetes aged 75 or older, and declined with age. In 2005, rates among those aged 75 and older (589.8 per 1,000 people with diabetes) were more than two and a half times that of people younger than 45 years (221.5 per 1,000 people with diabetes).
