Crude and Age-Adjusted Hospital Discharge Rates for Stroke as First-Listed Diagnosis per 1,000 Diabetic Population, United States, 1988–2006

From 1988 to 2006, the trends were similar for both crude and age-adjusted rates for stroke as first-listed diagnosis per 1,000 diabetic population. The rates leveled off from 1988 to 1996, and then declined to 2006. The age-adjusted rate was 12.5 per 1,000 diabetic population in 1988 and 7.3 in 2006.
