Hospital Discharge Rates for Heart Failure as First-Listed Diagnosis

Age-specific rates of hospital discharges with heart failure as the first-listed diagnosis per 1,000 diabetic population rose with age. For all age groups, rates increased during the 1980s and the mid-1990s. From 1998 through 2003, rates leveled off in the youngest age group (people aged 0-64 years) but declined in older age groups (people aged 65-74 years and people aged 75 years or older).
