Age-Adjusted Hospital Discharge Rates for Major Cardiovascular Disease as First-Listed Diagnosis per 1,000 Diabetic Population, by Sex, United States, 1988–2006

From 1988 to 2006, the age-adjusted hospital discharge rates for major cardiovascular disease as first-listed diagnosis per 1,000 diabetic population decreased among women. However, among men, the trend showed no change from 1988 to 1993, and then the rate decreased. In 2006, the age-adjusted rate was 46.9 per 1,000 diabetic population for men and 40.7 for women.
