From 1997 to 2011, both the crude and age-adjusted percentages of adults aged 60 years or older with diagnosed diabetes who reported needing assistance with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) decreased for whites but showed little or no change for blacks and Hispanics. Throughout the period, in general, the crude and age-adjusted percentages were lowest among whites compared with the other groups. In 2011, the age-adjusted percentage of adults aged 60 years or older who reported needing assistance with IADL was 15.6% for whites, 19.7% for Hispanics, and 22.4% for blacks.
