Age-Adjusted Percentage with A1c < 8% Among Adults with Diagnosed Diabetes, by Race/Ethnicity, United States, 1988–1994 to 1999–2006

From 1988–1994 and 2003–2006, the age-adjusted percentage of adults with diagnosed diabetes and A1c < 8% increased for non-Hispanic whites (from 55.4% to 72.7%) and for non-Hispanic blacks (from 51.1% to 62.3%), but not for Mexican Americans. In 2003–2006, the age-adjusted percentage of adults with A1c < 8% was higher among non-Hispanic whites than among Mexican Americans (72.7% vs. 58.7%).
