State-Based Diabetes Prevention & Control Programs

Image of the state of TennesseeThe Tennessee Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) has received funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since l994. Activities supported by the Tennessee DPCP include the following:

  • Establish state coalition. The coalition has a diverse membership and active and involved committees.
  • Collaborate to educate the public about diabetes. One collaboration with the American Diabetes Association, the Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology, and the University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service will bring the National Eye Institute’s traveling vision exhibit to Tennessee. This initiative will help to raise public awareness about diabetes and disseminate information to people with diabetes, those at high risk for developing diabetes, and their families and health care givers.
