Native Diabetes Wellness Program (NDWP)

Grantees

Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (North/South Dakota). Program title: Native Gardens: An Indigenous Permaculture Approach to the Prevention and Treatment of Diabetes. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe uses their longstanding tradition of Native gardens to increase opportunities for families and communities to choose and healthier lifestyles. The purpose of the Native gardens is to restore the traditional communal relationship with food through growing, storing, eating, sharing, nourishing, and celebrating with food while maintaining respect for the land.
