Native Diabetes Wellness Program (NDWP)

Grantees

Salish Kootenai College (Montana). Program title: Traditional Living Challenge and Ancestor’s Choice. The tribe is restoring traditional ways of learning surrounding food gathering, hunting, and preparation using traditional Living Challenge and Ancestor’s Choice health promotion interventions. Goals are being accomplished through community collaboration to shape and refine existing programs, form partnerships to explore permaculture practices and expand programs, support mentoring relationships between elders and youth, distribute food product and educational materials, and support policy initiatives for sustained health promotion changes.
