In 2007, CDC announced the availability of fiscal year 2008 funds for cooperative agreements between the CDC and State Education Agencies (SEA), State Health Agencies (SHA), Territorial Education Agencies (TEA), Federally Recognized American Indian/Alaska Native Tribal Governments (TG), and large urban Local Education Agencies (LEA) to improve health and educational outcomes of young people through establishing and strengthening coordinated school health programs.

In 2003, the CDC announced the availability of fiscal year (FY) 2004 funds for a cooperative agreement program for Programs to Improve the Health, Education, and Well-Being of Young People. The purpose of the program was to improve the education, health, and well-being of young people by strengthening coordinated school health programs and by enabling other youth-serving organizations to address health risks.
