The CDC Cancer Partners Summit, held July 12–13, 2006 in Washington, D.C., had the theme "Empowering Partners for Effective Integration: Charting a New Generation of Cancer Control Partnerships."

The State of the Science on Nursing Approaches to Managing Late and Long-Term Sequelae of Cancer and Cancer Treatment Symposium
This invitational symposium took place in Philadelphia from July 15–17, 2005. The goals were to develop research priorities and recommendations for clinical care, education, and policy related to nursing care for survivors of cancer who complete initial treatment during adulthood and continue to live with the potential or actual sequelae of their cancer, its treatment, or both.

Sisters Network Inc.

Sisters Network National African American Breast Cancer Conference
In April 2005, the Sisters Network Inc. hosted its 7th annual National African American Breast Cancer Conference, "The New Spirit of Survivorship." The conference marked the continuation of building stronger partnerships to specifically address the impact of breast cancer among black women. CDC presented "Survivorship as a Public Health Issue" by Denita Dean, Deputy Branch Chief, Epidemiology and Applied Research, Division of Cancer Prevention and Control, CDC. The discussion focused on cancer disparities, risk factors, and survivorship.
