Release Notes
The International Union Against Cancer (UICC) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have collaborated to produce a version of CDC's Abstract Plus data collection software in Spanish for use in Central and South America. Abstract Plus data items, codes, record layout, and edits are all based on the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR)'s published standards, incorporating those of major standard setters including American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program. The Spanish language Abstract Plus thus promulgates NAACCR standards to the southern hemisphere. Training and deployment began in late 2004, with software expected to be used in various countries.
This release addresses required changes to NAACCR-standard items and procedures to meet international and multi-lingual needs. Locale information is needed for a customized installation.
