Florida Cancer Data System
- Education and Training Program Enhancement: Prior to 2008, a few weeks before the annual data submission, all Alabama Statewide Cancer Registry (ASCR) staff reviewed the data for the standardized edits. The data submission process took more than a week to complete, during which time all other work was suspended.
- Safeguarding the Cancer Patient Record: The Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) identified a pressing need to develop and prioritize training for all Florida registrars (certified and non-certified) to address critical needs during an extended period of change that included the introduction of Collaborative Stage version 2 (CSv2) and the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries version 12, a new Class of Case, new information technology systems, and changed operations for both the hospital and central registry in a large state.
