NPCR-AERRO Central Cancer Registry Workgroup

Purpose and Goals

The Central Cancer Registry (CCR) Workgroup was formed after the Strategic Assessment and Modeling Session (SAMS) held in Atlanta, Georgia, in March 2006. Regional and state registries are the main participants.

The workgroup consists of participants from the March and October 2006 SAMS. The purpose of the workgroup is to—

  • Develop the CCR module of the NPCR-AERRO model.
  • Create a best practice use case for each cancer registry function identified at the SAMS.
  • Review and revise the diagrams.
  • Develop guidelines and recommendations.
  • Help develop an implementation strategy.

The workgroup meets regularly to further NPCR-AERRO central cancer registry activities.

Activities and Timeline

The workgroup is reviewing and revising diagrams, developing guidelines and recommendations for central registries to use electronic reporting and automation, and collaborating on the development of an implementation strategy for electronic reporting. Below is a task list and work products that represent workgroup activities. The task list is updated as deliverables are finalized.

CyberView: The latest versions of completed models, UML diagrams, and use case documents are available in this Web-based presentation tool that opens in a new browser window. CyberView provides a view of the models at different levels of granularity with easy drill-down navigation.
