  • Screening Capacity Assessment

    • A randomized controlled trial is underway to evaluate the relative effects of patient-focused intervention and clinic-focused intervention on the provision of colorectal cancer screening in primary care clinics. The target population includes average-risk patients aged 50–80 years, clinicians and clinical staff within the primary care setting.

    • A study is in progress to survey a nationally representative sample of healthcare facilities that provide endoscopic colorectal cancer screening and follow-up to determine the economic costs of performing these procedures. The principal research question is whether current reimbursements for colorectal endoscopy procedures (i.e., flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy) for colorectal cancer screening cover the average total costs of performing these procedures. The results of this study will be used to better define the economics of colorectal cancer screening.
