  • Providing high quality clinical services is critically important to the demonstration program. CDC provides guidance to colorectal cancer screening demonstration program (CRCSDP) sites to ensure that high quality services are delivered. Programs and their participating endoscopists are encouraged to follow the newly developed standardized colonoscopy reporting system, 2 which specifies which elements should be included in colonoscopy reports, provides a standard method for reporting them, and specifies key quality indicators to be considered for periodic monitoring. 3,4 Current guidelines for surveillance following polypectomy or cancer resection should also be followed. 5,6 Data elements (such as whether the bowel preparation was adequate, whether the cecum was reached, and whether polyps were completely removed) are collected by sites to enable them to assess the quality of endoscopic services.
