Dear Colleague:
The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention invites you to attend the 19th Annual Behavioral
Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) Conference. State BRFSS
coordinators, survey supervisors with responsibility for data collection,
survey contractors, statisticians, epidemiologists, health educators,
behavioral scientists, and other persons involved in data collection,
analysis, and utilization of state-based behavioral surveillance data are
encouraged to attend. This year, the conference will be held March 11-14,
2002, at the Sheraton Buckhead Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia. Rooms have been
reserved ($93.00 for a single or double room, 14% room tax not included)
to accommodate those attending. Please call
There will be an early conference registration fee of $175.00. A conference registration form is enclosed. Please return this form no later than February 11, 2001, to Professional and Scientific Associates (PSA), 2957 Clairmont Road, NE, Suite 480, Atlanta, Georgia 30329. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Tennessee Opportunity Programs, Inc. (TOPS). Note: Your check/money order will not be processed until after February 11, 2002. Participants who register after February 11, 2002, or on-site will need to pay a registration fee of $225.00 payable by check, cash, or money order only.
Our conference coordinator is Professional and Scientific Associates (PSA).
Please contact Ms. Luschane Norris of PSA at
For your convenience, the Call for Abstracts is available on this Web site. Detailed instructions are included for submitting an abstract for a poster or an oral presentation. All abstracts must be submitted not later than January 4, 2002, by 5 PM, EST. Notification of selection will be made on January 28, 2002.
We are soliciting both oral and poster presentations and we strongly encourage you to consider submitting. It is an excellent forum to present and demonstrate findings, methods, and approaches that have proven successful. Topics should focus on the collection, analysis, and application of BRFSS data.
In addition, we are offering training in SAS and STATA to state BRFSS affiliates. Course participants are being recruited from among current BRFSS licensees and program coordinators, and are subject to eligibility criteria. This training will be conducted Saturday, March 9, 2002, by Dr. Donna Brogan of Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. The cost to attend is $75.00 per class with conference registration.
Information on CATI training and a special Data Quality Workshop will be available soon. Attendance of the Data Quality Workshop is strongly encouraged. All materials will be available on our Web site located at http://www.cdc.gov/brfss/.
We anticipate an
exciting and productive conference. For those who are new to our
conference, please note that there will be a Newcomer's Welcome Session on
Saturday, March 9, 2002, from 4 to 5:30 PM. If you would like to
discuss any issues regarding the conference, please call
Sincerely,
Bill Scott
