BioSense Participants by State

Developing a National Public Health Surveillance Picture

The BioSense community of users is developing a national public health surveillance picture by helping state and local health departments and CDC to quickly share information with each other across city, county, or state borders to share data to conduct enhanced surveillance in emergencies and for events such as the presidential inauguration; the Super Bowl; or any other local, regional, or national event or emergency.

Currently, 43 jurisdictions (state and local health departments) have completed Data Use Agreements (DUA) to participate in the BioSense 2.0 Community. 19 of them have set up live data feeds with hospitals and Health Information Exchanges (HIE) in BioSense, and 24 are working to set up their first live data connections. Many more state and local health departments are considering joining the BioSense 2.0 community of users, by reviewing their public health surveillance capacity and relevant state laws and regulations. Jurisdictions participating in BioSense 2.0 are detailed below, and the 35 jurisdictions supported by the CDC BioSense 2.0 Cooperative Agreement are detailed here.
