No way! Research shows most kids don’t smoke. Of 100 kids, only 13 have smoked at all in the last month. And only 8 smoke regularly. That means that 92 kids out of 100 don’t smoke normally, and a full 87 don’t smoke ever. That means that not smoking is much more popular than smoking. The only thing you need to do to be cool is be you.
That’s great that you know you don’t want to smoke; you should be proud of yourself. There are lots of other ways to have a good time-without putting yourself at risk: try out for a play, go to a concert, or learn how to play the guitar and have fun! Most kids aren’t smoking, so you should definitely be able to find cool (smoke-free) kids to hang with.
You bet! Lots of kids work on the truth campaign (www.thetruth.com). Truth is an edgy “roots revolution.” It’s kids seeking out the truth about smoking, and spreading the facts. It’s kids talking to kids. Check them out!
