Statewide Asthma Education Programs
Program Description:
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Alaska Chapter (AAFA/AK) has provided educational programs designed to improve patient control of asthma and programs to educate health professionals on current trends in asthma management as well as several community outreach activities. The current proposal for FY 05 continues and expands these efforts by broadening AAFA/AK’s focus to address allergies as they affect asthma, expanding community outreach to provide phone-in support for asthma patients, supporting the development of more comprehensive, routine asthma surveillance in collaboration with Alaska Asthma Coalition partners, and creating a statewide media campaign to inform Alaskans about the benefits of optimal asthma and allergy management.
