  • 105,000 adults have doctor diagnosed arthritis; 24% of all adults have DRDX+
  • 39,000 men have DRDX+ (19%)
  • 66,000 women have DRDX+ (28%)
  • 22,000 adults 18-44 have DRDX+ ( 9%)
  • 43,000 adults 45-64 have DRDX+ (33%)
  • 40,000 adults 65 and older have DRDX+ (58%)
  • 27,000 non-Hispanic white adults have DRDX+ (17%)
  • 66,000 non-Hispanic black adults have DRDX+ (33%)
  • 4,000 Hispanic adults have DRDX+ ( 9%)
  • 15,000 adults with less than a high school education have DRDX+ (33%)
  • 22,000 adults with a high school education have DRDX+ (29%)
  • 68,000 adults with more than a high school education have DRDX+ (21%)
  • 36,000 obese adults have DRDX+ (39%)
  • 19,000 adults who are physically inactive have DrDX+

ACTIVITY LIMITATION DUE TO ARTHRITIS OR JOINT SYMPTOMS

  • 37,000 adults have activity limitation due to arthritis or joint symptoms.
  • 8% of the adult population has activity limitation due to arthritis or joint symptoms.
  • 36% of adults with arthritis have activity limitation due to arthritis or joint symptoms.
  • 13,000 ( 6%) men have activity limitation; (35%) of men with DRDX+ have activity limitation due to arthritis.
  • 24,000 (10%) of women have activity limitation; (37%) of women with DRDX+ have activity limitation due to arthritis.

 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, BODY WEIGHT, AND HEALTH STATUS AMONG ADULTS WITH ARTHRITIS

  • Of adults with arthritis 20% report they are inactive and another 35% are insufficiently active.
  • Of adults with arthritis 36% are obese and another 32% are overweight.
  • Of adults with arthritis 26% report fair or poor health.

 

 ARTHRITIS AMONG ADULTS WITH DIABETES, HEART DISEASE, AND THEIR RISK FACTORS

  • Of adults with diabetes 17,000 (48%) also have arthritis.
  • Of adults with heart disease 12,000 (60%) also have arthritis.
  • Of adults with high blood pressure 56,000 (44%) also have arthritis.
  • Of adults with high cholesterol 48,000 (37%) also have arthritis.
  • Of adults who are overweight 32,000 (23%) also have arthritis.
  • Of adults who are obese 36,000 (39%) also have arthritis.
  • Of adults who are inactive 19,000 (39%) also have arthritis.
