In doing so, CDC’s Division of Media Relations works closely with all of CDC’s Centers, Institutes, and Offices to coordinate the provision of information to the media.

To quickly and effectively reach the media and public, the Division of Media Relations develops and uses:

  • Press releases, fact sheets and media advisories

  • “Frequently Asked Question” documents
  • Press conferences and media telebriefings
  • Public service announcements

CDC’s Division of Media Relations also responds quickly to queries and questions from journalists and other members of the media. CDC typically receives 50–75 calls from reporters and other media members each day. The Division of Media Relations provides a reliable and helpful points of contact for journalists who are looking for any CDC-related information. The Division of Media Relations also partners with and supports state and local health officials to provide the media with accurate information and current resources.
