Non-Fatal Assault-Related Injury Rates Among Persons Ages 10-24 Years, by Age and Sex, United States, 2009

In 2009, among persons ages 10–24 years, the non-fatal assault-related injury rate for males was 1264.9 per 100,000 populations and the rate for females was 786.4 per 100,000.  For both sexes ages 10-24 years, the non-fatal assault-related injury rate was highest for those ages 20–24 years with a rate of 1706.7 per 100,000 for males and 1101.4 per 100,000 for females.

Data Source: Nonfatal assault data are from the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System – All Injury Program operated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in collaboration with CDC, using WISQARS (http://www.cdc.gov/injury/wisqars).  The data represent nonfatal assaults treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments.
