Adolescent Reproductive Health
CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health, Adolescent Reproductive Health program promotes sexual and reproductive health among adolescents and young adults with a primary focus on youth facing disparities and high rates of unintended pregnancy. Through partnerships and capacity building, we accomplish our mission by translating science into practice to reduce sexual risk behaviors and promote healthy youth development.
We fulfill our mission by—
- Increasing the numbers of teens receiving evidence-based or evidence-informed teen pregnancy prevention programs, including youth development and curriculum-based programs that reduce risk factors associated with teen pregnancy.
- Linking teens to quality health services by strengthening linkages between teen pregnancy prevention programs and community-based clinical services.
- Educating stakeholders (community leaders, parents and other constituents) about relevant evidence-based or evidence-informed strategies to reduce teen pregnancy and data on needs and resources in target communities.
- Supporting the sustainability of the community wide teen pregnancy prevention effort.
- Supporting the exchange of information among scientific and program colleagues, partners, and the public.
