The recent federal legislation around health information exchange and health care (e.g. Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, Affordable Care Act (ACA)) has increased the urgency to update public health’s role in the healthcare information environment. This presentation will provide an overview of the PHIN Strategic Plan and describe how current and future PHIN activities will align CDC activities and funding with these national efforts, including the Nationwide Health Information Network, Pandemic and All- Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA), and Electronic Health Records (EHR) Meaningful Use initiatives.
