Report Production

Each time a PNSS transaction file is received by CDC from a contributor the Periodic Summary of Record Volume and Data Quality Report is generated and sent electronically back to the contributor within a few days.

1 The report file name, located in the upper right corner of the report, includes the abbreviation for the contributor's name, the system (PNSS), and identification of the record layout. Files in the new 2004 record layout are identified with an 'N.' Production files are identified with "PRD" in the filename; such file are added to the PNSS master file. Test files are identified with "TST" in the filename and are not added to the master file. Replacement files are identified with an "R" in the filename. Next, the month or quarter of the calendar year represented by a majority of the records on the transaction file is identified. Lastly, a time stamp indicates the time the file was received by CDC.

The Date File Received, also located in the upper right corner of the report, is the date that the transaction file from the contributor was received by CDC.

2 The Run Date, located in the upper left corner of the report, is the date that the transaction file was edited and the periodic summary report was generated by CDC. The transaction file is edited and the Periodic Summary of Record Volume and Data Quality report is generated within a few days of CDC receipt of the file.
