Quality
Foster continuous quality improvement in laboratory science, policy and practice
To make a meaningful impact on quality in laboratory practices and services, LSPPPO focuses on the key quality areas that resonate with laboratories. In a partnership role, LSPPPO works internally to support CDC laboratories in meeting regulatory requirements, and externally to provide scientific expertise in setting appropriate regulatory quality standards for laboratories in the United States as part of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) program, as well as the non-regulatory consensus standards and guidelines for the laboratory community. LSPPPO’s laboratory quality improvement research includes initiatives to provide laboratory practice recommendations that are based upon systematic reviews of evidence for effectiveness. LSPPPO’s role in supporting quality improvements across laboratories will evolve as research, technology, and needs change.
