Noroviruses
(genus Norovirus, family Caliciviridae) are a group
of related, single-stranded RNA, nonenveloped viruses that cause acute
gastroenteritis in humans. Norovirus was recently approved as the official
genus name for the group of viruses provisionally described as “Norwalk-like
viruses” (NLV).
