Description

A virus of the herpes family.

Symptoms

A skin rash of blister-like lesions, usually localized to a small area on one side of the body, and often the face or trunk.

Complications
Extreme pain, blindness in eye.

 

Transmission

Reactivation of the chickenpox virus, more common in persons >60 years.

Vaccine

Zoster vaccine (Zostavax) can prevent this disease.

As an adult, do I need it?
You should get the zoster vaccine if you are >60 years.
