| Summary of the Conference |
Roughly 1450 people attended the
Conference at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers in Chicago,
Illinois. There were 5 plenary sessions in addition to the opening
and closing plenaries, and 86 workshops. There were 27 not-for-profit
exhibitors. 85 posters were presented.
Almost 750 people attended the Welcoming
and Networking Continental Breakfast on April 29. Almost 250 people
participated in the Lunch Rounds on March 18. The Immunization Q&As,
presented by the NIP training team on March 17 and 20, were also
well-attended.
105 conference attendees took part
in the Jazzercise event on March 18. 167 people participated in
the Fitness Walk/Run along the Chicago River on March 19. The Yoga
classes on the evenings of March 18 and 19 were each attended by
about 15 participants. On Thursday morning, 25 conference attendees
took part in the Aerobics event.
38 local-area volunteers supported
the conference staff this year. Special thanks to Ed Mihalek for
his hard work in recruiting and coordinating the volunteer support.
The 37th National Immunization Conference
began with an opening plenary session on Monday morning, March 17,
2003, at 8:30am. It concluded on Thursday, March 20, 2003, at 12:00noon.
