The CDC malaria risk map application is an interactive map which provides information on malaria risk throughout the world. Users can search or browse countries, cities, and place names and get information about the risk of malaria in that particular location and see recommended malaria prevention medicines for that area.

This tool is meant to complement resources currently available on the CDC Travelers' Health website and the CDC Malaria website.

As of summer 2007, the risk map application is a beta version, meaning that it is still undergoing final development. If you find a problem or have a suggestion about the map, please contact us via email at mrmfeedback@cdc.gov.

About Malaria Risk

Please note that the level of malaria risk may differ according to altitude, population size, seasons, etc., so be sure to read all of the information for each location. Malaria risk also changes with time. While updates are being made constantly, this map does not guarantee lack of malaria risk.

You may also access malaria risk by country by following the link at the bottom of the risk map start page. The link will take you to Health Information for International Travel (the Yellow Book) on the CDC Travelers' Health website. Please note that this link provides country-level information only.

How to Use

This interactive map allows users to search or browse countries, cities, and place names and get information about the risk of malaria in that particular location and see recommended malaria prevention medicines for that area.

You may need to use scroll to view the complete city list. (See Figure 2.)

  6. The map will zoom in to the city and malaria risk and prevention information will be displayed in a table below the map. If multiple cities or places match the search, the table below the map will display the options. Feedback

The CDC Malaria Risk Global Map is still in beta version so on-going changes and updates to make the application run more smoothly and efficiently will be incorporated. Users of the system are the best way to highlight needed changes and modifications, so feedback and comments are welcome. To submit your suggestions and feedback please email us at mrmfeedback@cdc.gov.
