Injury & Violence: Slide Presentation

Slide 53

Integrate School, Family, and Community Efforts to Prevent Unintentional Injuries and Violence, text below.

B a c k  |  N e x t

Talking Points

Schools alone cannot prevent unintentional injuries, violence, and suicide in communities and families they serve, but they can work to integrate efforts. This might mean involving family members in all aspects of school life, including planning and implementing programs and policies to prevent injury, violence, and suicide. Schools can also educate, support, and involve family members in child and adolescent injury and violence prevention. Schools can do several things to help coordinate school and community services. For example, schools can make facilities available to community groups, increase the availability of supervised after-school programs, encourage support for community initiatives to prevent violence and promote safety, and promote service learning activities in the community.
