Talking Points

The guidelines are based on the coordinated school health program model, which holds that all components of the school health program must interact, support, and reinforce each other to ensure student health. A coordinated school health program goes beyond the health education curriculum to include physical education; health services; nutrition services; counseling, psychological, and social services; a healthy and safe school environment; staff health promotion and training; and family and community involvement.
