Talking Points

Weve talked about schools as places where injuries and violence sometimes occur. But what are schools doing to help prevent unintentional injuries and violence? The School Health Policies and Programs Study or SHPPS 2000 is the largest study of school health policies and programs ever undertaken in this country. SHPPS looked at state, district, school, and classroom policies and activities in many areas of school health, including classroom education, the environment, health services, and food services. SHPPS provided data on injury-related policies and programs.
