Talking Points

Why focus on schools? Schools are places of living and learning. 98% of kids aged 5 to 17 are students. Every day nearly 53 million young people attend more than 114,000 schools where 6 million adults work as teachers or staff. Counting students and staff, on any given weekday more than one-fifth of the U.S. population can be found in schools. Unfortunately, schools are not always safe places.
