| Note. Data include persons with a diagnosis of HIV infection regardless of AIDS status at diagnosis (i.e., includes persons with a diagnosis of HIV infection only, a diagnosis of HIV infection and a later AIDS diagnosis, or concurrent diagnoses of HIV infection and AIDS). NECMA indicates New England County Metropolitan Area. |
 |
 |
| a |
Includes persons reported to CDC through
June 2005 whose vital status was “alive” as of December
2004. Excludes persons whose vital status was unknown. Data
presented for eligible metropolitan areas with confidential
name-based HIV infection reporting as of December 2004. |
| b |
These numbers do not represent reported
case counts. Rather, these numbers are point estimates of
persons living with HIV/AIDS, which result from adjustments
of reported case counts. The reported case counts are
adjusted for reporting delays. Includes cases diagnosed and
deaths that occurred through December 2004 and that were
reported through June 2005. |
| c |
Data do not include cases from
jurisdictions that had not implemented confidential
name-based HIV infection as of December 2004 (Illinois;
Washington, DC; and Maryland). |
| d |
Because column totals were calculated
independently of values for the subpopulations, the values
in each column may not sum to the column total. |
