These numbers do not represent actual cases among persons with AIDS diagnosed. Rather, these numbers are point estimates adjusted for reporting
delays of AIDS cases and for redistribution of cases initially reported with no identified risk, but not for incomplete reporting of cases. See Technical
Notes. |
| 2 |
Statistical estimates for AIDS incidence in 2000 and 2001 among persons exposed to HIV through hemophilia/coagulation disorder or receipt of blood
transfusion, blood components, or tissue are not presented, but are included in the exposure category “other.” The relatively small number of AIDS
cases in these categories in recent years does not provide information that results in reliable annual estimates of incidence (* = data not available);
only cumulative estimates are presented. CDC is evaluating and revising the algorithm for estimating AIDS incidence among persons infected in the
early 1980's through these exposure categories. |
| 3 |
For 2000 and 2001, estimates of “other” include cases exposed through hemophilia/coagulation disorder and receipt of blood transfusion, blood
components, or tissue. See table 5, footnote 4 for a discussion of the “other” category, and Technical Notes. |

Because column totals were calculated independently of the values for the subpopulations, the values in each column may not sum to the column
total. |
