This Compendium chapter focuses on the HIV medication adherence (MA) evidence-based behavioral interventions (EBIs) that have been identified by PRS as either best-evidence or good-evidence through the efficacy review of the HIV medication adherence literature. These interventions focus on medication adherence behaviors among persons living with HIV and represent the strongest HIV behavioral interventions in the literature to date which have been rigorously evaluated and have demonstrated efficacy in reducing HIV viral load or improving HIV medication adherence behaviors based on the PRS MA efficacy criteria. Newly added medication adherence EBIs are highlighted here. A complete listing of MA EBIs is available below.

The NEW Medication Adherence Chapter of the Compendium includes 8 HIV medication adherence (MA) evidence-based behavioral interventions (EBIs), identified from the scientific literature published or in press from January 1996 through December 2009.

The NEW Medication Adherence (MA) EBIs include:
0 Best-evidence and 8 Good-evidence interventions

8 individual- and group-level interventions
and 0 community-level interventions
(Added on December 21, 2010)

The 8 NEW individual- and group-level EBIs are:

Listing of all MA EBIs

A complete listing of MA EBIs identified by PRS is provided below, as well as separate lists of interventions identified as either best-evidence or good-evidence. A stratified listing of MA EBIs by key population and intervention characteristics is also provided.

The PRS project is continuously conducting the efficacy review to identify new HIV medication adherence evidence-based behavioral interventions. This website will be updated periodically to provide timely information to the prevention field.
