Twitter Chat: Preparedness Month
Join CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden on Friday, September 27 from 1-2PM ET for a Twitter chat in honor of National Preparedness Month to discuss the importance of public health preparedness and the actions you can take to make sure you’re ready for the next emergency.
Recent public health threats include MERS, wildfires, Boston, cyclospora to name a few. What emergencies are you most concerned about? Weather-related? Diseases? Man-made disasters? Disasters can happen anytime. The best protection is knowing what to do.
Nearly half of U.S. adults do not have the resources and plans in place in the event of an emergency. To be ready for an emergency CDC recommends three things: 1) Get a kit, 2) Make a plan 3) Be informed. CDC works 24/7 with state & local health departments to protect communities from public health threats.
Join our preparedness experts for this discussion about the importance of preparedness, items to include in an emergency kit and how to inform others.
