Antibiotics Aren't Always the Answer: Chart

Back

Chart: Good News/Bad News: Antibiotics prescribed for acute respiratory infections in kids younger than 15 years of age decreased 24% in prescribing (comparing 1993-1994 to 2007-2008) but still account for 58% of all antibiotics prescribed. Most acute respiratory infections do not require antibiotic treatment; patients may benefit from symptomatic therapy. Source: MMWR 2011; 60:1153-6.
