The Division of Applied Public Health Training (DAPHT)
|
- promotes the practice of preventive medicine, epidemiology, and other applied public
health sciences, and the use of scientific approaches in health policy, program planning,
implementation, and evaluation;
- serves as the CDC focus for the teaching and training of public health professionals in
preventive medicine, epidemiology and other applied public health sciences;
- plans, directs, and manages CDC-wide training and service programs, including
the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS),
the Preventive Medicine Residency (PMR),
and the Public Health Prevention Service
(PHPS) Programs;
- responds to domestic and international requests for assistance and consultation in the
practice and training of epidemiologic investigations and application to program and
policy development;
- supervises field-based EIS Officers and Preventive Medicine Residents;
- provides liaison with other governmental agencies, the Council
of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE), and other outside groups;
- assumes an active national and international leadership role in public health training.
