in death rates for coronary heart disease and stroke. Coronary heart
disease death rates age-adjusted to the 2000 U.S. population declined from
about 350 deaths per 100,000 population in 1979 to 208 deaths per 100,000
population in 1998. Stroke death rates age-adjusted to the 2000 U.S.
population declined from 97 deaths per 100,000 population in 1979 to 60
deaths per 100,000 population in 1998.
